Wednesday 27 March 2019 Town Crier Official Retirement

After 8 years service Colin officially retired as the Town Crier on the 27th of March 2019.

Saturday 17 November 2012 Christmas Lights Switch–On Lytham

Colin was on hand during the afternoon to officially proclaim the Lytham Christmas Lights switch On, he then proceeded to parade along Clifton Street, Henry street and the Piazza in the town centre, inviting the public to join with the entertainers that were performing on the "Big Stage". Cuffe and Taylor the event organisers invited Russell Watson to join in and perform the switch on prior to his appearance during summer proms 2013. Colin along with the Mayor and local Councillors joined Russell the guest of honour as he switched on the Christmas lights watched by a 4,000 strong crowd, as Lytham was bathed in a rainbow of light.

Saturday 23 June 2012 Arrival Of The Olympic Flame Lytham St Annes

Colin performed his duties as the Town Crier and officially announced the arrival of the Olympic flame in the area when it arrived at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club at 6.15am, the torch was then carried on its route, members of Lytham Community Choir welcomed the torch at Lytham Green, before moving on to Warton where celebrations included a peals of church bells, a breakfast party, a hot–air balloon and a sports party at Bridges Playing Field which included a tug of war, welly throwing and other sports activities.

20th December 2011 Town Crier Appointment Official

Colin was officially appointed Town Crier and he was also presented with a scroll of appointment as the joint Town Crier is to both the Manor of Lytham, as in the gift of James Hilton, Lord of the Manor, and St Anne’s Town Council, and Colin has also registered with The Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers.

27thNovember 2011 Lancashire Day Celebrations

Colin provided his services and demonstrated his skills acting as the Town Crier at the Lancashire Day celebrations in Lytham St Annes, the event held in Ashton Gardens was dedicated to all that’s best about our great country and Colin provided his very vocal services announcing performances by the Fylde Coast Cloggers who specialise in the country tradition of Morris dancing, folk musicians the Scuttlebugs and a barbershop quartet.

There were also a wide variety of Lancashire food and produce stalls and a family treasure trail and a country fare menu was available in the Ashton Pavillion cafe, there was something for all the family and it was a wonderful afternoon.

15thNovember 2011 Town Crier Position Formal Offer

Prior to a meeting of the St Anne’s Town Council, the Lord of the Manor of Lytham presented Colin the formal offer of the position of Town Crier to the Manor of Lytham and a quotation has been obtained towards necessary items of apparel in order for Colin to fulfil his appointment and The Town Council are requested to consider making a grant towards the cost of purchase of the necessary items.
